Methylene Blue: The Energy & Focus Shift I Didn’t Expect BUT Was Hoping For
I didn’t go looking for anything new.
I’ve been eating clean for years.
Taking my supplements.
Doing what I’m supposed to do.
So when something actually changed how I felt, I noticed.
Because that doesn’t happen often.
The only thing I added?
Methylene blue.
Why I even tried it
This wasn’t a random decision.
I’ve been reading about methylene blue for at least 3 years.
Looking into it.
Seeing people talk about it.
Then not buying it.
Because I don’t just jump into things.
I do my research. I sit on it. I watch.
And when I finally decide to try something?
I’m consistent as fuck about it.
A lot of people say they’ll do what it takes.
Very few people will-
do it for as long as it takes
I’m the person who does both.
What I noticed
After a few weeks of using a low dose, I noticed the basics first:
- More energy (without feeling wired)
- Better focus
- Easier to start and finish tasks
- Less mental drag
But the moment it really clicked?
It wasn’t at work.
The moment it hit me
One day I finished work early or what is an appropriate amount of time it should have taken me to finish - abnormal lately.
Because I stayed on task and actually finished what I needed to.
I went inside and without thinking:
- did the dishes
- bleached the countertops
- wiped down the table, piano, coffee tables, end tables
- used Murphy’s wood oil
- changed the garbage
- vacuumed the house
- shampooed parts of my carpet that were overdue
And I just… did it.
No overthinking.
No dread.
No “I’ll do it later.”
I felt on fire.
And that’s when it hit me:
why did I suddenly just buckle down and do all of that like it was nothing… when lately everything has felt overwhelming?
And then it clicked:

What is methylene blue?
Methylene blue isn’t a vitamin or herb.
It’s a lab-created compound that’s been around since the late 1800s. It started as a dye, then became one of the first medical treatments used for things like malaria and certain blood conditions.
Now it’s being talked about for:
- energy
- focus
- brain function
- cellular health
Why it works (simple version)
Your body makes energy inside your cells—specifically in the mitochondria.
That system doesn’t always run perfectly. Stress, toxins, and life in general can slow it down.
Methylene blue helps that process run more efficiently by:
- improving how cells move energy
- helping reduce bottlenecks
- supporting overall energy production
Your brain uses a lot of energy, so when this improves, you feel it there first.
🧪 What’s actually happening at the cellular level
Inside your cells, energy is made in the mitochondria through something called the electron transport chain.
That process creates ATP—your body’s usable energy.
When that system is running well:
- energy is steady
- brain function is sharp
- your body keeps up with what you’re asking of it
When it’s not:
- things feel slow
- tasks feel heavy
- mental fog creeps in
Methylene blue acts like a backup carrier for electrons.
It can:
- pick up electrons
- move them through the system
- keep energy production moving when things would otherwise slow down
So instead of forcing your system like a stimulant…
it helps your body:

Is it like ADHD medication?
No.
It doesn’t push your system or overstimulate you.

Methylene blue didn’t replace anything I was already doing.
It supported it.
Because here’s the reality:
You can’t expect something like this to carry you if the foundation isn’t there.
If you’re:
- eating excess sugar
- living on processed or fried foods
- not moving your body
- running on poor sleep
…it’s not going to fix that.
This worked for me because:
- my nutrition is already dialed in
- I’m consistent with what I put in my body
- I move
- I pay attention
This wasn’t a shortcut.
It was support on top of a foundation that was already there.

You’ll hear methylene blue come up in the biohacking / optimization space.
People like:
- Gary Brecka
- longevity-focused people like Bryan Johnson
- conversations on podcasts like Joe Rogan
It fits into that world of:
- mitochondrial support
- brain performance
- energy optimization
What about parasites?
Methylene blue does have a long history as an antimicrobial, especially with malaria.
But:
- it’s not a catch-all parasite cleanse
- feeling better doesn’t automatically mean it’s removing parasites
Most of what people feel comes from:
better cellular energy and brain function
Why people connect it to “anti-aging”
You’ll see this talked about a lot.
The connection comes from the fact that it may:
- support mitochondria
- reduce oxidative stress (at low dose)
- support brain function under stress
That’s where the conversation comes from.
But this isn’t reversing aging.
It’s supporting how your body functions right now.
What about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.?
He’s mentioned using things like methylene blue as part of a bigger picture approach to health.
That approach focuses on:
- lowering toxin exposure
- supporting mitochondrial function
- improving how the body operates at a cellular level
Methylene blue fits into that.
But again—this is personal use, not a one-size-fits-all recommendation.
What about the liver?
This was one of my first questions.
- Your liver does process methylene blue
- At low doses, it’s not known to cause liver damage in healthy individuals
It’s been used medically for a long time without being classified as harmful to the liver at appropriate doses.
Like anything:
- more isn’t better
- stacking too many things at once can add stress
Side effects to be aware of
At low doses, most people tolerate it well.
Possible effects include:
- blue or green urine (normal)
- mild stomach discomfort
- feeling slightly overstimulated if dose is too high
- sleep disruption if taken later in the day
It can also interact with certain medications, especially those affecting serotonin.
What I’m doing
For those who are curious, this is how I personally take it:
- after breakfast or my first meal
- usually something like eggs, meat, toast, and my protein coffee
I take it alongside:
And I’m not taking it every day.
I’m using it:
- intentionally
- alongside the basics (food, sleep, movement, sunlight)

Nothing else in my routine changed.

Methylene blue isn’t something to take casually.
But used carefully, at a low dose, with awareness…
Personally, I am 5'2" bounce between 135 - 145 lbs, I take approx .5 - .75 ml at this time. You don't want to take too much.
It can shift how you move through your day in a very real way.
